FAQ

  • Who can come to the club?
VG Anime Club is completely open to the public and not restricted to Vista Grande students! Our only requirements for being a casual visitor or member is that you need to be in the age range of 6th to 12th grade. (That doesn't mean you need to be enrolled in a public school! As long as you fall in the appropriate age range, you're welcome to join us.) If you're a young adult who's already graduated, interested in attending our club, and not opposed to fun experience that you can add to your resume, please email us at vganimeclub@gmail.com to ask about volunteer opportunities.
  • What do I need to do before I come to the club for the first time?
You don't need to do anything besides show up! We're more than comfortable with new anime fans dropping in just to check the place out. If you decide our club isn't for you, no hard feelings! But if you decide to stay, you're free to hang out with us, and come and go as you please. And if you decide you're ready to settle in, you can talk to our President or visit our New Member page to start the steps to becoming a member.
  • Where are you located?
Inside the Vista Grande High School Library. Our address is 1556 N Arizola Rd, Casa Grande, AZ 85122. During our Spring, Fall, and Winter seasons, you can find us in the South Community Room in the Childrens' section of the library. If you want to join us for our Filmathon during the summer, we're located in the Agora next to the library; you can ask a librarian for directions at the front desk.
  • When do I need to arrive?
We start watching our chosen anime every Friday at 4:00PM. If you want to hang out and socialize, we recommend you try to show up early. Our Club Staff are expected to show up fifteen minutes early at 3:45PM whenever possible to attend short meetings before club starts.
  • Is food allowed inside the club room?
Food is allowed and encouraged! We serve ramen and brown rice tea during every meeting, but you are also free to bring your own snacks and drinks. All we ask is you clean up after yourself and let the President know about any spills.
  • Does the club have any rules?
Just a few! We want to show respect for each other and the library, and keep our club a safe and fun place to be, so please: Lower your voice while the anime is playing (It's fun to talk with your friends, but your discussion shouldn't be so loud that it distracts others) Keep all electronics on silent and dim your screens (It's totally cool if you want to use your phone, tablet, or laptop while watching anime! Just try to not draw attention away from the screening) Behave appropriately; even if you're almost an adult, you're typically going to be sharing this space with preteens, so cursing and X-rated discussions are not allowed in the club room Don't purposely destroy or break anything inside the club room Clean up after yourself, throw away your trash, and inform the Club President about any spills so they can be wiped up quickly Be kind and considerate of others; any kind of bullying, assault, or harassment, whether verbal or physical, will never be tolerated inside the club room These rules apply to everyone, whether you're a casual visitor or long-standing member. Even the Club President has to follow them. Mainly, we just ask that everyone is mindful in their actions. Treat the club room like you'd want someone else to treat your home.
  • What kind of anime do you watch in the club?
We watch a large variety of genres of anime from different eras!
  • How is the anime chosen?
At the beginning of every club season, our members are given a selection of appropriate anime and take a vote on what anime we will be watching and finishing together.
  • What is "appropriate" anime?
Because our club serves teens from 6th to 12th grade, the Club President curates a selected list of anime that is not too childish, but still age-appropriate for our audience. We do our best to avoid excessive violence, explicit language, and suggestive scenes.
  • Do I need to be a member to attend?
Nope! Our club is always welcome to new visitors and guests. You can attend every meeting and never become an Official Member, if that's what you prefer. Membership is just an additional option for those who want to get more from our club and become a part of our little community.
  • How much does it cost to become a member?
Becoming a member of our club is completely 100% free! Our members will never be charged for their membership benefits.
  • How do I become a member?
Please visit our New Members page, where you can find out how to join us and other information about our membership program.
